We now have a marvellous opportunity to see whether the feedback session mentioned in the previous blog entry has had any impact on CEO’s behaviour. I’ll be bold and make a prediction - I don’t think it will have made the slightest bit of difference, but I’m always ready to be pleasantly surprised!
Anyway, the picture you see here is of a coconut palm we were given back in September last year when we had our “housewarming party” in our new Global Headquarters in the Marienburg. This plant will now form the core of an experiment. As CEO told you below, he was recently given the feedback that, amongst other things, he’s a notorious “liegenlasser”. So what has this got to do with the plant? Well, as you can see, the plant is dead – it’s actually been dead for a couple of weeks now. Interestingly, it stands right next to CEO’s desk. The big question is, how long will he put up with this rather hideous, morbid, dried-out looking object standing about half a meter from under his nose? Our hypothesis, which forms the basis of the experiment, is that it’ll be there for a while – a long while indeed. We suspect that he will use his classic strategy, annoyingly effective, of waiting until someone else can’t bear to look at the thing anymore and decides to remove it. Unfortunately he can be remarkably patient in such matters. We fear that the “liegenlasser” is also a “stehenlasser“. We’ll let you know.
